NAPS & MAPS

NAPS (National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme) and MAPS (Mukhyamantri Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme) are government initiatives designed to promote skill development and increase employability among youth through apprenticeship training. These programs aim to bridge the gap between theoretical education and practical industry experience by encouraging organizations to hire apprentices and train them in real work environments.

NAPS, launched by the Government of India, focuses on providing financial support to employers who engage apprentices. Under this scheme, the government shares a portion of the stipend paid to apprentices and also supports basic training costs. It is applicable across various sectors such as manufacturing, services, and trade, making it a nationwide effort to enhance workforce skills. The scheme is regulated through the apprenticeship portal and follows guidelines under the Apprentices Act.

On the other hand, MAPS is a state-level initiative introduced by the Government of Maharashtra. It complements NAPS by providing additional incentives to industries within the state to encourage them to offer apprenticeship opportunities. MAPS focuses on boosting local employment, supporting MSMEs, and strengthening the state’s industrial ecosystem by ensuring that youth receive hands-on training and practical exposure.

Together, NAPS and MAPS play a crucial role in skill development by creating a structured pathway for youth to gain industry-relevant experience. These schemes not only benefit job seekers by improving their employability but also help employers build a skilled workforce tailored to their operational needs, ultimately contributing to economic growth and industrial development.
